Oh La! La!
In or out - Altrincham readies for its Fourth French Festival
As Britain decides whether to leave or remain in the European Union, the residents of Altrincham are getting ready to show some serious ‘l’amour’ for the people of France. Following its huge success in 2015, Altrincham French Festival is back and bigger than ever in July 2016.
Held over three days from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th July, this year’s programme includes a classical music concert, a carnival parade through the town centre and a ‘Bastille Evening’ with French food, live entertainment and a spectacular firework display. Stamford Park will host Sunday’s family day with a junior girl’s football tournament in celebration of Euro 16 Football Tournament in France, a cycling Sportive for families and a “La Grande Bake Off“ competition for budding pastry chefs.
Festival Director, Zainul Sachak said: “Brexit is the word on everyone’s lips this year but we hope families in Altrincham will come together once again to sample some French delights. Nearly 5,000 people came last year and had a fabulous family day. This year’s event will be bigger and better with a number new ideas which includes a Classical Concert, a family cycle ride and a Bake off style competition.
